A waste of money, 155 $

After such a long wait! Sweet Sweet Victory. After many update requests from my side, they asked me for some clarifications about my current academic program. I clarified everything in detail, and got my acceptance 3 days later. Super grateful and pumped. Yay!

Apparently, the department makes a decision first and then suggests it to FGSR. Vouch from the professors helps but Department makes the final decisions. I had two interviews with two different professors - one in Nov 2022 and another in Feb 2023. The first prof vouched for me, by the grace of God; but the second prof was indifferent to recruit me.

Saw the portal first. THe email came 12 hours after the portal was updated. Also got rejected by Simon Fraser the day before. Well....

International student with undergrad degree from the US. 2 publications (one outside of CS, one for a data science workshop), 2 years of undergrad AI research, 2.5 years of work experience as a software/machine learning engineer. Checked portal for update.

Interview early Jan to be rejected end of April, without any communication in between. Fortunately I wasn't really counting on it

It is what it is! Wish they had announced the decision much sooner. Congratulations to those who got an admit!

Ignore Status! Has anybody heard from Houston? This is taking far too long.

3r/1p/0a Rejected from the three top Canadian schools UBC, Waterloo, and UofT. I must write the GRE to prove my intelligence to these guys. I will put 10 projects on my CV and see their response then.

Took them an eternity to just send a rejection.

No Mail as of now. I checked the portal, and a Rejection was Waiting! Finally, After more than 4 effing Months. Thank you UBC!

Finally heard back from them!

Thank you for your application to the Ph.D. in Computer Science offered by the University of British Columbia's Vancouver Campus for the term beginning September 1, 2023. We regret to inform you that your application for this graduate program was not successful. Each year, many good applicants are declined admission to the University of British Columbia. Common reasons for declining applicants include unavailability of appropriate faculty advisors and/or funding for the applicant, an applicant's less competitive academic record, and simply the limited number of spots available in graduate programs. Due to the significant number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide applicants with specific explanations for being declined. We wish you well in your future endeavors. Thank you for your interest in pursuing graduate studies at the University of British Columbia.
