Yay!!! Very excited!

I emailed my POI with a question about a scholarship application, and he gave me advance notice of my acceptance. Still waiting to learn about funding.

To the current MIT student: maybe the event could be for outsiders. I hope you get in! By the way, do you know anything about the state of funding for internationals? From the website, it seems like they provide it for limited internationals. Are there considerable # of internationals at BCS?

I am already an MIT student. I have not received an invitation to Brain and Cognitive Sciences to which I applied. I hope this means I am still under consideration!

All potential Phd students are interviewed before giving an offer (as far as I know). the interview weekend is also a recruiting weekend because the itinerary has a lot of events such as parties, lab tours etc (not to forget that it is completely paid by the department). Because of these reasons, I think all students under consideration would already have an invitation for that weekend.

Are invitations a must. I see the following message on their website: "Candidates who are under serious consideration may be invited to visit the department".

Yes all invites have been sent already.

Fulbright informed me.

2 publications (1 international 1st author), 1 book, double BS degree in electronics eng and software eng, MS student in 1st ranked uni in our country, ranked 1st in BS, ranked 2nd in national exams, ranked 4th in national computer olympiad. . . Ireally like CMU. I don't really understand what they want to admit a student!!!

Thanks, Hopkins, for teaching me, praising my work, encouraging me to apply to your grad program and highly recommending me to others, hiring me as a research assistant in your department, and then being the first school to reject me. Your loss and lucky for the other 5 schools I've had great interviews at.
