Email to check the application portal and download a decision letter. It's fine because the dept. website says the application is more competitive for international students...

I was talking to someone at Toronto about a year ago (pre-pandemic) before deciding where to apply, and I got the impression they tend to have very few funded spots for non-Canadian students. Which is to say don't beat yourself up!

Got a personal message in the email, offer to arrive soon.

To all that saying that they haven't received an official email from UToronto: I also haven't received an email from them but the decision letter was already updated in their application portal. It seems like their decision was already made, but it may take them several days to email all the applicants the decision.

This year is very tough! Not even waitlisted...US M.A. degree in linguistics with GPA 3.97; one peer-reviewed publication; two top conferences; three years' lab research; 2 years' linguistics TA experience. It seems they prefer their own master students if we look at their recent graduate students. Sigh!

TTPB: Haven't got anything yet either, however, the past history of UoT here on GradCafe doesn't tell whether it's good or not - their dates of notifications are overall pretty chaotic. But I'm hoping for the better, naturally. Fingers crossed for us!

TTPB: No msg means that you survive this slaughter. It's very likely you'll be wait listed or accepted in the end.

Ohhhhh I haven't heard anything from the department yet! Are there people like me who haven't got anything? To the post "waitlisted" below, would you please share how you knew this? Thank you so much!!!! Hope you can be accepted soon!

Email to check the application portal, my second rejection of the year. Haven't got any interviews so far so it's not looking good.

:(

It is my darkest hour in my application so far. The chance is great that rejections from other programs applied are on the way. And the only thing I can do is sit and wait. Wish anyone else here good luck.

E-mail to check the portal.

Email that decision was made, had to download letter on the portal.

TTPB (Toronto): Sorry! Who did you hear from about the admission outcome?
