Has anyone heard from UCSD? They had one of the earliest deadlines and still no news for me yet.

Email informed me of an update to my application, which was a rejection.

I thought I had a good shot because my POI reached out to me for an early interview but alas. Fast decision.

Kind of was expecting this but a notification at 12:30 am in the morning? Really UCSD.

International candidate with a BSc Hons degree in Biotechnology and an MPhil degree in Biological Sciences. CGPA is 3.65 in both the degrees. Two published papers in international peer-reviewed journals, one under review and two in preparation. Strong research background spanning over almost 4 years which includes two theses, two side-projects, one funded international summer school and a position as a research associate. Strong extracurricular participation in the shape of leading various student bodies, and numerous articles published in newspapers and magazines on different topics.

Chem BA 2002, GPA 3.19. 1 yr UG chem research. 1 pub. 10 yrs work in chemistry writing. MA 2006, writing-related. 2016-19 back to school: UG STEM courses w/labs, 3.40 GPA. Curt rejection from UCSF: email to check status online. Checked, said "Rejected." I'm crossing fingers for others with non-traditional backgrounds.

3.93 GPA, GRE 162Q 153V 3.5 AW. No chem GRE. Double major in Chemistry and Statistics and minor in math from a State University. 2 years of undergraduate research including an Honors in the Major Thesis from a well known lab in my field. 2 semesters of TA for the genchem labs.

Interviewed by two PIs mentioned in SOP, with an oral offer. Field of interest is fluid mechanics.

POI emailed to invite me to their open house Feb 27-28. Unclear if "open house" means I'm accepted or if its different phrasing for an interview weekend. Does anyone know?
