I was almost sure that i will get admission from Penn State but quite Surprised by the decision. I had a Good SOP and Good LORs.

They notified me about my reject through a generic email.

To the poster below. I was told by the department staff to contact a professor regarding my application status. But the university is on spring break, so I'll have to email him next week.

Generic email notification for rejection. Quite surprised, but no issues as I have admits from better colleges.

Asked the DGS about the status and received a reply saying I’ve got rejected.

Accepted to the Masters instead of the Ph.D.

Didn't get an email from Penn State saying to check the portal. But, I saw other people on here saying they heard back. Went and checked the portal and saw that I was accepted! Confusing acceptance though. It said "Your intended program/PLAN of study has completed the first step of the admissions process and has offered you admission pending an eligibility review by the Graduate School" instead of the usual "Congratulations!"

This is a very new program offered at PSU. I'm waiting for MIT's result. But with these GRE scores, I got doubts.

Has anyone heard from the department? They said to me the committee is still going over applications.

Letter with a kind, hand-written note attached from the director of the program.

Emailed a personal letter from faculty! Interviewed 3 days prior. No firm funding but will be "strongly considered" for an assistantship with a tuition waiver! Really thrilled!

Does anybody have any idea if the decisions are still being sent? I have seen that the decision on other majors (Hep, AMO) are being posted but nothing on biophysics.
