Expected. This wasn't a good fit for me.

A ton of research experience and papers at top conferences (1 first author, 3 other papers). Perfect GPA at Top-5 CS school. Great SOP and Rec Letters (professors with whom I conducted research). No extracurriculars really. FAANG internship.

Same as the person who shared 'copy-paste email from EECS admission chair saying I've been waitlisted along with ~50 others across EECS subareas. EECS apply portal is still blank.' I wonder when they will send out the final results. It says in the email that they will do it in March, but still they initially claimed results would be out in early March...

Sub-Field: HCI

Quite late results. Not expected!

Got into Stanford and Harvard, rejected by MIT who was my first pick. Congrats to those accepted!

At least, the wait is finally over

Standard rejection email

Finally the rejection has arrived, my dream of becoming a student here has come to an end sob sob sob. I didn't bother asking for any updates with any schools so I'm not sure if I was waitlisted. Ivy degree, 6 lower level graduate courses (intro/first year) and 8 upper level graduate courses, passed my school's qualifying exam for Ph.D candidates, 2 publications, attended one REU and given 1 talk. Also attended many workshops and conferences. Putnam honorable mention and USAMO finalist back in high school.

So, yup. The rejection is finally here, so now I can move on. The (admittedly slim) chance of getting in at all kept me hanging for the last 4 months. Well, dreaming ain't a crime. Congratulations to everyone who got in.

This was no surprise. What made me think I could get into MIT lol....

"While I appreciate the grace with which the rejection email was written, for MIT to wait this long to email out results after giving accepted students personalized phone calls way back in February was just disrespectful, yet on-brand with how the entire application process was handled this year." Beautifully written and 100% agree
