I would like to add TTPB. I just lucked out. Got just one admit out of 14 this year, albeit a very good one! Luck really does play a big role unless you have a stellar profile, but you'll get admits from anywhere in that case.

Caught in a mass reject wave

3 yrs work ex, 335+ GRE, top tier college, research exp, CMU it is!!

It's weird how I got admitted to better programs but most of my safe/mod schools rejected me

TTPB: Life is short and yes, we can be judged by an admission decision. Moreover, there was only one accepted in the mass-rejects last time, and he/she was a PhD reject who got into masters. That means there is no hope. It is a mass reject.

TTPB: Looking at your GRE score, i definitely think we are all going to get mass rejected. We're done now.

The deadline for many of my schools including Berkeley is in 5 days and still no news from Berkeley??? Has anyone heard back from them? Thanks

Haven't heard anything but there's the admit website that says commit deadline is the 15th so not sure whether they've just concluded without sending replies back?

TTPB: what are you guys talking about your application being sent to department being written on portal. Mine still shows the material received checklist, upload materials and portfolio change. Please help, really scared.

TTPB: I'm also still waiting on a decision from Berkeley M.Eng. I emailed them a few days ago asking when I'll get a decision, but I have not received a reply.

Yeah, the "sent to department..." also disappeared on my profile too. If too many people have it disappeared then possibly it is a mass reject. I hope not.

Got a rejection email last week. Today got an email that the application was re-reviewed and I have been put on the waitlist.

TTPB: So, can you decline the offer ASAP? That would be very helpful for the rest of us waiting.

TTPB asking about the waitlist. I was already waitlisted but did not hear from them for a long time. So I considered it a reject. Now I just got confirmation again.
