Accepted to PhD without funding, offered waitlist for MA with funding as alternative. Said concern was not enough background in cultural studies discipline. Undergrad was US History/Media Culture, Master's in progress is Film & Media Studies. Very kind letter, but will decline.

Disappointed but surprisingly unbothered. If you get rejected, please remember that the whole admissions process is a haphazardly facilitated joke rooted in oppression under the guise of progressivism. Congratulations to everyone accepted. 1r/0a/0w/3p

Notified through email on February 4, 2020

Received an email today from an admissions counselor asking for clarification on an undergraduate transcript issue. Have not had other contact from them, no interview (though I did speak by phone to a POI prior to applying). Email requested a reply as soon as possible, so it sounds like they're working through the slush pile.

Emailed the dept. for an update on my application status and then received an email notification that my application status was updated online - form letter from Dean of Admissions for Graduate School
