Had been in contact with a Prof. but never had much hope.

Randomly checked the portal on 2/11 during the afternoon and saw my application status changed to accepted. I did not receive an email to check the portal until 10:15 pm PST.

MS in Top 50 univ (Area PL), 1 first author paper, 1 second author paper. 1 year experience in the industry. undergrad gpa 3.6, ms gpa 4. A strong LOR from my academic advisor, 2 ok LOR. Expected rejection but still disappointed.

I was invited for an interview. During the interview, they told me I'd hear back in 2-3 weeks.

AI/ML. BSc (bad GPA) and MSc (good GPA) from international, unknown uni. 2 first-author top-tier publications + 1 unrelated publication. 4x excellent LORs, 2 of them from well-known profs. POI reached out and asked me to apply.

Research area: Theory. Two papers in B/C rated conference. Was interviewed by adcom member in Jan. Don't know if my interview contributed to the rejection.
