Astronomy-focused PhD, got notified by phone and then by e-mail. Solid academics, publications in refereed journals, 1y postbacc.

TTPB: Congrats! Would it be possible to know your field (modern/pre-modern, Chinese/Japan, etc)? For I also had an interview with them last week and haven't heard from POI since then... was thinking if it means a rej...)

Email from Graduate Director- did not have an interview. Funding information will be sent out in the following weeks. If you really want your PhD, don't give up if this cycle's outcome is not what you hoped for! This was second cycle applying to PhD programs.

Email to check portal update: "We have completed our initial review of applicants to the Health Psychology training program and have extended interview invitations. Our task was unusually difficult because of the very large number of exceptionally well-qualified applicants this year. Our program received almost 100 applications, which represents a significant increase over prior years. The difficulty of selecting candidates for the interview stage was further magnified given the overall excellence of the pool and the limited number of interview slots. We are never able to admit or even interview all the applicants who we believe are qualified and talented. This year, we were able to invite fewer than 10% of applicants for interviews. Due to the high volume of applications, we unfortunately are not able to provide individualized feedback to applicants. Please be assured of our very best wishes and appreciation of your interest in our program."

OMG!!! Whaaat? Definitely my top choice because of the POI. I was notified via email. No interview but I did talk to the POI extensively before applying. Financial aid package to follow.

I did two years of research resulting in 1 publication. 3.85 GPA. Did not submit GRE.

I got in! Systems. I had an interview in late December. So excited!
