MEng EECS, Reject after such a long wait!

TTPB: Can you mention what time you received the acceptance email?

Got the e-mail notification just after midnight. Applied on 1/15, so about 3 months from submission.

TTPB, I am the poster from IIT. I checked my SoP with all my LoR writers and they all told it was okay. Some even suggested changes and I modified them. I don't care now, since UT and ETH took me. Probably better than the rest of the lot anyways. Probably mentioning my ultimate goal was to do a PhD in all my MS SoP's was a mistake. And maybe not going into details of their course work was also a mistake.

TTPB: Something might be wrong with your SOP, get it checked by some expert professor and apply again in the next season. Don't lose hope, these things happen to the best of us.

Undergraduate Student from New IIT. 9.4/10. GRE 332 (Q-170, AW - 5.5). Two papers published at okay venues and two under review at top A* conferences when submitting application. UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, Maryland, GaTech, UIUC all rejected me. Will go to ETH or UT Austin for MSCS. Probably ETH, because Corona will get out of there soon and I want to do research anyways. Had a *strong* letter from a Prof who is very famous and fellow of many fancy organisations from a top Uni in the US after my 3rd year Summer inter with him. One very strong letter from my undergrad adviser and one more letter from a prof with who I did research for a semester. Got interviews for PhD from a top school in Europe (Way above the above schools) and from 1 School in Canada (Top 4 in Canada) and 1 in USA (Top 15) - didn't make the cut anywhere. At this point, I do not simply know whatever the hell these schools need. And I haven't heard back from TAMU (Safe Option) yet! The above schools to the best of my knowledge chose a lot of people with far weaker profiles. LIFE NOW IS SHITE!

It takes 20+ days for them to write a rejection email? We should start a protest for being treated like a piece of $HIT

I thought I had a good chance here. A lot of my projects and work ex matched with the curriculum. I could even relate to certain professors' research and thought I would have fit in nicely. Looks like they've gotten better profiles. Oh well.

This admit season has been weird. Most universities seem to be rejecting any profiles they've got left. Even the "saffer" universities. Would love to know if this has something to do with covid19.

Finally, notification is coming up...

I have not received an email yet, but I have been checking the portal nonstop. My result came April 17th, 8:00 PM PDT. All that waiting, all that anxiety for nothing. However, I am at complete peace now, I know what I must do going forward. Everybody check the portal, your result is likely there and your emails are likely on the way.

Anyone else still waiting? Why wouldn't they send a rejection by now? De facto waitlisted? Is there hope? Any information would be appreciated.

Not even April 15th, that's the deadline to submit your intent to register. The website said that admission decisions will be released in March. We should've all received communication about our applications very long ago, the amount of time that we have been left in the dark is extreme.

I am also waiting for the result. I think the admission team of MEng should refund the app fee ($120) to applicants who have not received any message regard with the application results past Apr 15 (not even a message to say they will delay the notifications).

TTPB: I have also heard nothing, which is really disheartening. We've all been on edge waiting for these results for so long and with every passing week, we get nothing. There was a post made on April 3rd by an applicant who assumed they had been rejected although they never received an official rejection letter. It was confirmed to that applicant that they'd release official rejections by the end of the following week which would have been April 10th at the latest, and they still didn't come. As there seems to be an acceptance that came out today (I'm guessing MEng), I am hoping that today is finally the day. It is my hope that this all ends well for all of us who have been left on edge for so long because it is cruel to leave potential applicants anxious and completely out of the loop for so long. If this all ends with a rejection, that would make this all so much more painful.
