Received notice on 02/12/2020 from the Director of Graduate Studies and my faculty advisor that they recommended my acceptance to the program; awaiting final acceptance from the Graduate School. Notification on 02/14/2020 from the Graduate School with the final acceptance. 5-year funding.

Application status has changed from 'Under Departmental Review' to 'Under Graduate Review' Fingers crossed!

TTPB: I contacted a faculty at the university and I was told that most of the students they wanted are already notified. But, they are still choosing some more students. No rejections have been sent yet. It might be that we are on the rejections list.

Did anyone receive acceptance in the gravity theory subfield from Umaryland? Also, what's the status of offers . Are they all sent out? They just send a generic reply when asked. Its killing me!!

I got an email from the DGS a week or so ago saying I was accepted but received my official notification today 3a/0r/0w/6p

I think that 'Waitlist' email is just an announcement because they send it to all the applicants through the email list.

"At this time, we unfortunately do not anticipate being able to make you an offer for admission to our department. We will send a more definitive final decision at a later date, but we wish to send you an update on your current status, so you can go about finalizing your plans for next year."

1 first-author paper, 1 co-authorship for a major paper, very low PGRE, Masters degree in astronomy >3.5 GPA. Interviewed two weeks ago (impression was it went well).

Received a delayed official acceptance on 2/20, which was supposed to be sent automatically on 31/1 but was not due to a "glitch in the system" that was said to affect multiple applicants. Might want to follow up with the department on your admission status if you haven't heard anything through the portal.
