Had contacted faculty prior to submission of application. The professor had shown interest.

Received official offer Feb. 3rd. Interviewed early Jan., went very well. 1 first-author paper & 1 co-author paper submitted to ApJ, 2 co-author papers in prep., very strong LoRs. Really excited about this acceptance, the package, people & program seem great!

already got Caltech so LOL

International female/Pacific Islander/PGRE 990/ 1 first author APJ published/several dean awards and fellowships/ So they just did a stupid decision.

Around ~1.5 yrs research experience in a different astro area than what I listed as my primary interest

email about status update, not surprised (but was secretly hoping) as this was the most prestigious in my list, got generic reply from 1/3 PIs I mailed. most prestigious and most safest both are out, let's see. QD
