I'm from an university with math ranking on top 20. I emailed Emory back asked why I was rejected. They told me the program is way to small. And my general GRE is my weakness.

Masters GPA: 3.63 (AMS Group I Public school), two publications, one in progress

First rejection :(

Email written as the same below.

Email from DGS. "We will make final admissions decisions next week, but we are all very impressed with you. I am writing to see whether you will be able to speak with our faculty via Skype. We are unable to fly you to campus from XXX for our visitation weekend, but we are hopeful that you might be interested in talking to us a bit about our program."

Submitted for early waiver fee deadline, app not as strong as others I submitted later.

Offer with stipend. A lot of research experience in biology and physics

Generic email. Wasn't expecting to get in, only applied because of fee waiver.

Generic rejection email, nicely worded though. I submitted early for the application waiver, so no money lost. Not my first choice, so I'm happy for everyone else who may have been accepted into their dream school! :)
