I was really sad when I got the rejection letter as the research group seemed like a perfect match for me. But now I’ve noticed even several candidates with good GRE scores got rejected too, so it seems this year was super competitive.

Applied to CS PhD, indicated preference for master’s too, received rejection for 2nd choice program (MSCS) with no word from PhD. E-Mail sent to me, no portal notice, 1200 applications, no mention of how many were admitted.
