I've officially been accepted into a Ph.D. program. As a first-gen student, this is probably the highlight of my life thus far. Accepted during informal phone interview with POI.

Unofficially admitted via phone, official admission to come via email.

I was notified in person because my POI has been my mentor since the beginning of my gap years (I have been working in the lab since I graduated from my undergrad institution). Our research interests did not match perfectly.

One of my top choice schools. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Haven't even responded to the email yet because I'm so nervous. AHHHHHH.

The professor sent me an email on 12/7 informed me that he was told I will be invited for the interview. Later at 12/29, the department sent me an email for the recruitment visit, responding deadline at 1/7. I was also told by the professor that the department makes the final decision of whether accepting or not. the visit is at 2/14-2/15. Travel reimbursement is provided for flight and for the hotel.

Decent GPA (3.65/4), great letters, 1 JACS, summer spent at international internship. Personal call from POI who I had been in contact with previously

Was told invitations to recruitment weekend would be sent out this week, but I didn’t get one I guess. Has anyone else heard anything?
