I spent 15 minutes of our 30-minute Zoom interview talking about Garfield, particularly my extensive knowledge of Garfield lore spanning 10 years of consuming Garfield media, including comics, video games, and films. The professor seemed really confused and tried to redirect the conversation, but I told him he was talking over me and mansplaining, which shut him up for a while. At the end of the interview he said there might have been a misunderstanding and that these topics "weren't appropriate" for a PhD interview. I started screeching into my headset mic and punching my webcam. He hung up and I received a rejection email a few hours later.

GRE not submitted. PI connected with the professor at Stanford and had an interview mid November.

No GRE, contacted through email and getting lunch with them next week. I'm located in the Bay Area.

Letter was posted to the portal -- no email notification.

Rejected from ICME MS. International student from tier-2 university in India. 9.58/10 CGPA, 1.5yrs of full-time research experience at a top-tier research lab, 2 papers from mid-tier conferences - both in ML related fields.

No research experience. I have internship experience and volunteer work.

Tier-1 University, 7 publications (2 published, 5 under review), 2 years research experience, 2 international research internships. No work experience.

International student with undergrad degree from the US. 2 publications (one outside of CS, one for a data science workshop), 2 years of undergrad AI research, 2.5 years of work experience as a software/machine learning engineer. Received email to check portal and a status updated had been posted.

3 papers, 1.5 relevant experience in industry. 1 LOR from boss who was a Stanford PhD. Other 2 LORs are from research advisors who get their PhDs at Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon. Congrats to those who got in!

2 industry internships, 1 submitted paper, 3 years of TA, 1 year of research experience, was my dream school and I have average profile so rejection is expected. Congrats to all admitted ones!

Knew I wasn't going to get in, but automotive design engineer. Liked the idea of an online program.
