Received an email from prospective advisor that the faculty have reviewed applications for PhD program and my application was highly ranked and moved to interview stage. Will be held online due the pandemicrnInternational, Undergrad GPA 3.0 in Africa, and currently MS student in Europe. International research experience, 3 years work experience and extracurricular leadership.

4 papers, no first authors, 4 letters of recommendation

5 publications, one first-person (methodology) publication, and two publications in progress.

Two interview weekends, both virtual. Low undergrad, high Masters GPA. No pubs, No GRE. Strong letters, lots of research experience and diversity work.

I applied Mayo in previous years and was rejected, but got a better school to go. For those who are going to apply this year, don't feel upset if you were rejected by this school. Mayo may be one of the best hospitals, and it have nice MD program. As for PhD program, it is may not be better than QS top 50 schools. If you are rejected, it means something better is waiting for you!

Received email from admissions director

Recevied an email from a faculty member asking to interview literally tomorrow. He said they are inviting only 20% of applicants to interview with 2 faculty members and that after the interview they will choose who to invite for an open house. The interview will be 30 minute zoom calls and I am still waiting to hear from the second faculty member. Good luck everyone! I don't think this was an automated interview application send out...
