(1a/0wl/1r/1p) (Had two rejection emails) (1.) The admissions committee has carefully reviewed your application for admission to the MFA degree program in Creative Writing within the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. We regret to inform you that your application was denied. Admission decisions are made by the department’s admissions committee which may consist of the Department Chair, the Department’s Director of Graduate Studies or Graduate Admission, and Faculty of the program. If you have questions regarding this decision, please contact the program directly. Due to intense competition, we must in many cases deny admission even to highly qualified candidates. We appreciate your interest in Boston University, and we wish you the very best in your academic pursuits. Sincerely, (2.) Dear Poet, Thank you for applying to the Creative Writing Program at Boston University and for your patience during the admissions process. I am sorry to say that we will not be able to offer you a space in next year's class. You will receive a formal notice from the graduate school in the days to come. Our program received over 630 applications for the eight openings in poetry and ten in fiction for the 2025-2026 academic year, making our decisions very difficult. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications received, we will not be able to provide individual feedback to applicants. We are aware that the selection process is far from perfect, though we try our best to be fair. This result should not be discouraging. You should know that sometimes applicants have been accepted on the second, or even the third, try—and flourished. Certainly, we wish you the best of luck, and continued work, with your writing.

They are now a four year program (although if you would like to accelerate to 3 you can).
