Really generous, detailed email from DGS, with a request for a Skype call when I had time (which we have since done and went well). The funding package, while developing, also seems very competitive. I am delighted, as this is one of my top choices and a choice preferred for me by many of my professors/advisors. Also received an invite for Welcome Weekend in March. Over the moon.

To the post below who said he/she is defeated: Don't give up your dreams. Just keep working on it. Last year I applied to 10 schools and got rejected by all of them. This year I applied again and got several interviews. It's OK sometimes to take a detour but never too late to achieve your goals as long as you keep going forward. Cheer up and get yourself better prepared. I believe you will succeed eventually. Good luck!

Has anyone heard from PSU? Have they already sent all admissions? My status is still “the GS has received your application”. Maybe it means ir? There are some admissions posted this year...

Interview on Jan. 31 and receive the official letter three days later.

Interviewed last week, got the acceptance email yesterday. No publications yet but worked on several research projects in graduate school (masters), in addition to teaching experience.

Apply to grad school they said, follow your dreams they said.... but TODAY I AM THE DEFEATED. Wishing the rest of you poor souls the best of luck. Do what I could not, overcome what I could not.

IR subfield. Notified via email saying this is an informal notification. Nothing changed in application portal yet. Was kinda worried about GRE AWA but now I think the result just explained itself. Tbh, not all my LORs are strong. Fit is okay strong. I was rejected by the school with strongest fit in my opinion. 1a/2r/6p

To the person that got rejected, did you call Penn State, did they email you or did they update your application status on the portal?
