Hey all: I emailed Irvine and was told that they contacted all of their acceptances and wait lists last week so everyone else is out. Good luck to all!

Thank you for applying to the University of Virginia’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program, but I am sorry to tell you that we cannot offer you a place this year. It’s a difficult business, selecting so few manuscripts from so many fine submissions. I wish I had better news for you. In the coming week, you will receive a more formal, computer-generated response from the Graduate School admissions system, but I hope this earlier response from me gives you more time to make other plans. I wish you good luck with your writing in the future.

Accepted, but was told no incoming students were funded. And, the only second year students funded were in fiction.

To my comrades below, I'm with you. It stings. 11 rejections. 3 to go. So much money. So much time. Keeping fingers crossed for the last of em', although, Irvine looks grim. Best of luck to all who's still got a few to go. If anyone has plan B ideas, please tell me because I'm at a loss. "jforms" is my name in the forums. Farewell!

"Out of the hundreds of applications received, we can only extend 10 offers of admission (five in fiction; five in poetry)."

Since I have an offer I am very eager to accept, I emailed Irvine to know my status with them. They emailed back saying acceptance calls were made last week and if I didn't get a call, then I didn't make it.

Nice, short e-mail.
