To people panicking about the "awaiting approval by the GAO" - the GAO is the Graduate Admissions Office who have to process the official offer and pass your application onto your colleges of choice. Think of GAO as like admissions HR. ONLY your department have an actual say on your offer so don't worry! (Source: current student at this uni)

Submitted on 29/12, interview with potential supervisor on 26/01, status changed from "under review by department" to "awaiting approval by GAO" on 08/02.

To the Theology post below. I'm currently in the MPhil Philosophy of Religion at Cambridge and applying to the PhD. I applied at the same time as you along with several other people I know. No one has received decisions yet that I know of that applied around that time. I think that we should hear soon though.

To the PhD Earth Science applicant below: congrats! When did you get interviewed? :) Where are you from? I got interviewed twice (2 weeks and 10 days ago) and am still waiting for the result...

Still do not know if there will be a scholarship or not. Keep waiting for further news.

Hi, I'm a current ACS student. There is no funding for Master's student by the department, and funding from sources like the Cambridge Trust is usually for PhDs. I don't know anyone in my course that has funding.

Anyone else with an offer for MPhil Advanced Computer Science waiting for funding? I really hope I get *something*, otherwise there is no way I can afford to take the place :-(

Application status changed to "awaiting approval by GAO" after being under consideration by department for a month. Just wondering if applicants might get rejected after making it to the GAO :(

So, my application status changed from "Under review by the department" to "Under review by the degree committee". Does anyone know if this means anything in terms of whether or not I have gotten in? Also how long does it take to get an final decision after reaching this stage?

To the chemistry guy below, I applied around 20th Nov before the funding deadline. I am in Material Chemistry. No, I am from Asian. Which RIG did you apply for? Could it be that your potential professor submitted the interview result to the department late ? Wish you the best.

To the PhD Chemistry applicant below. I has an interview on 4th Jan, and only on 2nd Feb may application status changed to "under review by committee" and subsequently changed to GAO on 5th Feb. Wishing all of us the best!
