Does Duke admit MEM candidates without an interview? Or is an interview mandatory?

I got a follow-up acceptance email this evening from the DSCB program (email the other day was the official graduate school saying to check portal status). It mentioned there is a waitlist if I am not going to accept the offer so they can then extend offers to the waitlist. I think this is the first round of acceptances (just based on timeline/waiting for approval from grad school), but if it wasn't I was not notified of my waitlist status before the offer. Got rejected by Duke, my safety school. I would not attend anyway though, since I was accepted to three of the top five. The admission process is full of randomness, but I hope they rejected me thinking that I am over-qualified, and would not attend anyway. SAFETY is not SAFE.

It looks like they have sent out some acceptances. Does anyone know if waitlist or rejections have been sent out?

Economic track: 1 year RA at top 2 economics and 2 years as researcher in a prestigious international financial institution. Still waiting for the results of the joint degree, but already happy. I will very likelly attend.

Majored in Biology and Anthropology and conducted field research in Mexico and Ecuador. After graduating, I worked at a science and then Native American museum

I was interviewed but haven't received acceptance nor waitlisting, would this mean a rejection?

Any idea if this is the first round of acceptances, or a later wave?

Econ & Policy concentration. Spring 2020 BA, top 200 state school. My environmental background is primarily in environmental justice and climate/Earth science. I think my SOP was decent and in the 15 Things I tried to cover anything noteworthy that I didn't have space for in the SOP, since I kept that really focused on EJ policy motivations and career goals. Genuinely surprised rn :)
