Status of PhD application changed from 'Under review by the department' to 'Awaiting approval of the Graduate Admissions Office'.

To people asking Cambridge's funding. It is never included in the offer letter, you have to wait (possibly until July) to know if you got something.

To those that have received offers (especially chemistry), does your offer letter contain funding info or you get admitted first and await funding outcome? My application now reads "Awaiting approval by GAO" as status and I want to know what to expect after the approval - admission only or with funding note.

To the current ACS student... welp, looks like I'm not going to Cambridge then if funding is rare! :-(

Did anyone hear back from the Department of Sociology? I interviewed two weeks ago with a potential adviser but my status for the MPhil program still shows "Under review by department." Anyone going through the same situation?

Canadian, finished last 2 years as a visiting student at UK. "conditional offer" posted on portal 07/02/18, then email the next day.

To Cambridge posters below: posting this from way back to hopefully help answer your question. I applied mid-Oct. and heard back mid-Nov. My POI told me he had no idea when to expect a notification, as the grad school committee only meets once per term and he wasn't sure when that would be. Since they had already met when you applied, I would expect that it's at least midway through this Lent term before they meet again. (This could be different for MPhils.)
