Rejected post interview. 5 pubs in high impact journals, 4y of research experience, 3 internships. My research interests didn't align well with the program.

Generic email from the department. I emailed asking about the status of my application and 2 days later received the rejection email.

Simple one like email saying I was rejected with link to full decision letter. Expected but super disappointed.

I interviewed for the program earlier this month. My interviews went very well and I was told my SOP, 5+ years of relevant research, and LORs were all excellent. However, I was still rejected via generic email. I emailed back asking for additional information and was told my research interests were a great fit with the program. The competition this year is fierce. Congratulations to all those who get accepted! Go and do excellent research!!

Got the interview, but no offer. Wasn't the best fit anyways, but I was hoping to get an offer.
