TTPB: There is only one spot left for gravity, or only one left for gravity+hep-th?

It seems I have very little chance to get the offer. Anyway, thank you for sharing all the info you know.

"Did you email your POI directly?" A member of the admissions committee initiated conversation via email "Do you know if and when PSU will send remaining offers in gravitation/particle theory?" I don't know, but the dude said that gravitation theory is only looking for one student. They received ~100 applications for this subfield. Hard to believe, but I don't wanna quote anything for privacy reasons. I hope they don't mind my sharing this info lol. Should be OK since he let me know...

Got an email saying that gravitation/particle theory was extremely competitive and faculty were not looking for that many people this year (I am interested in quantum gravity). They asked if I was interested in other subfields. I guess this means they've selected their gravity/particle theory candidates. Best of luck to those!

TTPB: Hi, I am the person who expressed interest in gravity. Thanks a lot for your reply. Penn State is probably my first preference now. My greatest interest is gravity theory (could either be classical, semi-classical or full quantum gravity theory) in which I have some research experience. Meanwhile, I am also quite interested in numerical relativity especially anything related to compact objects and gravitational waves (although I have zero experience in numerical relativity lmao). I am particularly eager to work with Prof. Ashtekar or Bojowald. I don’t know how many acceptances in gravity theory PSU has sent out, I hope I can get response from PSU about my application status in the following days.

TTPB : Person who expressed interest in Numerical relativity/gravity, is Penn state your first preference now? Are you specifically interested in working on numerical relativity? Any particular professor you are interested in working with? Thank you!

Do you think they will send more offers for hep-th? If you want to decline do it soon, or if you have better offers withdraw your application please. This is one of my last options.

TTPB who got accepted by PSU: Congratulations! I am still waiting for the result... Do you know whether they have sent out all the acceptances in the subfield of theoretical/numerical relativity or not done with it yet? Thank you!
