Rejected after being on the waitlist. This one was interesting because my poi really wanted me and insisted i wait. Unfortunately, the committee didn’t seem to like me. My poi was very upset about the whole matter. This was my top choice too. On the bright side, I got into another program with good funding. 1a/7r.

Very suprised to be hearing a response this late in the game. But if this forum is to believed, my application was definitely a contender for the waitlist and made it relatively far into the process. I’m happy to have made it this far. I’m going to a great masters program and once I complete it, I will apply to Emory again with hopefully a better outcome! Congrats to everyone who got in!

Email notification from the Graduate School. I was informed a few weeks ago by the department's Director of Grad Admissions that I was on a secondary, informal waitlist. Apparently, they keep a small list of applications to pull from if spots open up on the official waitlist. I'm just pleased to have been considered. I have accepted an offer from a similarly ranked program.

Quite surprised. I strongly believe my personal statement was my saving grace. Generous funding.

If you were notified in February, you're on the primary list. If you were not notified in February, you're on the secondary list. The entire primary list must pass up their offer before they move on to the secondary list.

Yes! Same doubt. What about the international students? The director of Graduate Admissions said that I am on the waiting list. But, that was mid-Feb. I did not receive any information about the 'open house'. God knows what's happening.

To the poster below regarding Emory: I heard back from the Director of Grad. Admissions. Those of us who haven't heard anything were most likely part of a small pool of applicants they kept on the shelf in case of "unexpected openings." Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there will be any, so we can expect formal rejections soon. Frankly, I'm pleased to have made it this far!

Hey! Same status as the post below. Haven't heard from them yet. I wrote to them in the last week of Feb. They said they'll be done sending out the results in the following couple of weeks. Nothing yet. What do you think is happening?

Is anyone else waiting to get a response of any sort from Emory? It doesn't look like they usually stagger out rejections so much, but I haven't heard a peep. I contacted the department and they said that, although the "vast majority" of applicants have been notified, there are still a few left to send out. I'm thinking it might be a secret waitlist, but who knows, really?
