They sent an email that I think means I was waitlisted but not to expect an offer. “Although the committee was positively impressed by your application, at this point I do not anticipate that we will be able to make you an offer. I'm providing you with this information so that you can make the best plans for yourself going forward. If you like, I can keep your application active, just in case a space opens up. However, a late opening is not something you should count on.”

hep-th, math-AG, math-ph; US top10 undergrad, bad gpa, 1 paper in cosmology, 4 research experiences. master transits to -th and mathematics, only school accepted. GPA is really important no way to earn back. applied several times its really hard.
