I got an email from the PI that I was supposed to be working with. She told me I was not picked for the first round despite being very qualified, and the funding situation doesn't help either. The PI mentioned I might get an offer around spring, depending on the number of extra students that might be chosen, but I feel it's unlikely.

No email, just happened to check the portal. Was very high on this program in the fall, but I guess it just was not meant to be. 4.0 MA gpa, solid overlap with several faculty members, but just another victim of inter-departmental politics.
