Rejected, 1st Class Honours Degree. Applied for entry Spring 2017

(I know I has been ruled out by UIUC in Feb because I was notified by my target supervisor.) My online status keeps showing "COMPLETE", but I got rejection through email several days ago: "The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition wishes to thank you for considering the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as your choice for your graduate studies. Unfortunately, the number of qualified applicants exceeded the number of positions we have available. I must, therefore, regretfully inform you that we are denying your application for admission for Fall 2016. I wish you the best for your future." Bye Bye, my dream school......

AIS still show "your app is complete". I received this decision directly from my potential supervisor one day later after skype interview. Assistantship is yet to release, and I get additional 20,000USD/yr full scholarship.

Was emailed by graduate coordinator that I was accepted into the FS program! More details to follow with paperwork and additional documents. Received official letter in the mail (same as e-mail). Beyond grateful!!!

That's a great idea! Thank you for the tips! I think I should probably wait until the interview process before, since I am thinking that has a heavy bearing on the final decision. Was it a brief interview? Do you mind sharing what kind of questions you were asked? Much appreciated :-).

To poster below: I recommend calling Connie Tharel (you can google the number) if you want a quick answer to your decision. She told me my admission decision over the phone before she sent me an official e-mail the same afternoon. From my conversation with her, she expects to be done e-mailing out all the decisions by the end of day today. Keep me updated about your results! It would be great to meet a fellow Foodie!

Hi everybody, me again (two posters ago). Congratulations below! Sounds like a lovely package! The graduate coordinator is tremendously helpful. I'm still waiting to know if I am accepted or rejected. The POI and I have corresponded a bit more since my last post, and another professor scheduled a Skype interview with me on the 11th. I'm nervous! Wondering how much longer until I hear the news. Will keep you guys updated. Best of luck to everybody!

Finally got my official admission notification. The graduate program coordinator e-mailed me a nice message with an official letter from the department chair highlighting tuition aid and stipend. I am so grateful and excited! Official e-mail from the Graduate School to follow with housing instructions and paperwork.

(To the poster below) I was told by the POI that they will have their faculty meeting on April 1, which will be when decisions are made and letters/emails are sent out. I have not received my official letter either, but I emailed my POI again to confirm that I was accepted, and he confirmed it. Good luck to you! And if you get accepted, I will probably see you around then! :)

Applied early last year. In mid-February the online application system was updated to read that the department had reached a decision, and that my application had been forwarded to the Graduate College for review. The burning question now is, will they actually reach a decision and notify me before the end of the decade?

Admission letters were signed & ready to be mailed out. Good luck to others!
