Got an email to check letter on website. I have a couple of years of research experience, currently finishing up a my masters thesis. Don't have any papers (yet). I doubt Penn would admit someone without a paper or even more full-time research experience.

Generic email rejection

Penn and Stanford in one day. Can we just get emails instead of portal messages? Seems inconsiderate but oh well.

2.5 years undergraduate research, senior thesis resulting in conference presentation, 2.5 years post-bacc research with conference presentation, no pubs but several manuscripts in progress

Rejected after interview. 2.5 years of undergrad + 1.5 years of postbacc research experience. Strong CV and letters, however no publication. I'm a little surprised getting rejected, but it is what it is.

3-year post-graduate experience as a technician. In 4 papers; 3rd author in 2 papers, 2nd author on a paper in review. In 7 posters; first author in 3. Presented at SfN.
