Waitlisted through an email. 70 people applied. 8 were accepted to the program. If fewer than 5 choose to join the program, they will extend more offers. Offers include funding.

Spoke to 2 PIs I was interested in the summer before applying on the phone. One is actively recruiting at this time. I have 3 years of research experience (1 as undergrad, 2 as technician), 2 publications and 1 poster.

Went to the interview Feb 20-22nd. Got a phone call from the director of the program Wednesday evening Feb 27, then an email the next morning.

Been admitted to the program, but waitlisted for TAship. Please decline if they made you an offer you don't plan on accepting!

M.S. 3.60, 1 paper in PRE-Rapid communication

I'm not sure if I should feel relieved or even more mediocre for not being in the "less than a quarter" of applicants that were spared the "pleaseure" of reading this gem of a rejection letter.

I think, my US MS degree with higher GPA and multiple publications in ASME journals helped me to offset my undergrad profile.

Let's not kid ourselves, that waitlist email is a rejection. "We regret to inform you we are unable to offer you a place in our program at this time. However, you have been placed on our waitlist. In the event that an opening should become available in the near future, please let us know as soon as possible if you wish that we reconsider your application."

No interview. Generic rejection letter.

Attend a very small liberal arts school. Double major in math and physics. One international REU, no other research, no publications. I have already accepted an offer, so I withdrew my application.

Received an email this morning titled “University of Oregon PhD Application for Admission” with a generic rejection letter.
