At this point, we have not reached a final decision about your application. While we are currently focusing our attention on a few other applications, you are still in consideration.

The MPS-Cog selection committee has carefully considered your application for our PhD program. Our work was made particularly difficult this year by a very competitive pool of applicants and we regret to inform you that we are unable to accept you as a potential PhD student.

you have to email them to actually get them to tell you you didn't make the shortlist lol. I have mostly a theoretical linguistics background, so makes sense they wouldn't reach out

subfields: neurolinguistics, phonology, phonetics

BA in Cognitive Science, no GRE, two years of undergrad research experiences, summer research award :(

4 Conference pubs (3 accepted, 1 in-review), 1 workshop pub in top CS conference, 4 very strong LORs. Had first round of interviews, but was not invited to final interview stage in March. I was made aware by my POI that My CS/Engineering background did not match the profile that they were looking for in BCS. Grateful nonetheless, all the best to everyone else!

Invited to virtual open house in mid February, yay!
