For context, Maryland usually makes 12 offers and hopes for a yield of 6, but this year they are only accepting 6 and waitlisting the rest of the top 12ish, hoping they can extend more offers on a rolling basis. Today I think the top 12ish all found out their status either way, and I was waitlisted. I invested a lot in this application and thought things were going really well so I'm pretty disappointed, but still holding out hope that some people turn down their offers.

Offered Deans Fellowship and GRA. Previously had an interview with the POI. Area of Interest: Computer Engineering

Admission without directly assigning a supervisor. UMD ECE/CS admission process is quite typical that their committee is very powerful so that people can be admitted without any interview with potential POIs. Area: System and ML. No Pub.

Offer document emailed at 11:04AM

WL for admission/funding. Detailed e-mail like below posters and invited to virtual visit day!

MOCB Concentration

Has anybody heard anything from Maryland?

Got an offer letter for the Dean Fellowship and GTA from the Department, as well as my advisor for the 1st year before I choose a POI next year. From a normal university in the US, some research exp, very high GPA

This is one of my top choices- so excited!!

Waitlisted for admission and funding. Funding about 22k/year. Will decline. Good luck to everyone on this list.

Hi, I'm the person from below who said I was waitlisted. First, an informal email from faculty a week and a half ago saying I would likely be taken off the waitlist, and then this past Saturday I was taken off the waitlist with a tuition waiver and stipend! Very happy!

TPB: I was admitted (pending acceptance by the Graduate School) but waitlisted for funding.

Very informative email (same as those below). They have been pretty up front about their financial situation given covid, which I appreciate. Hopefully this works out, although I'm pessimistic about getting funding even if admitted.
