Got the admit mail yesterday. No funding. International student with 2 years of industry experience and 3 Tier-B publications

Prof. Kostas Papakonstantinou asked me to apply for admission three days before the deadline because I did not submit my application before. MS GPA 4.5/4.5. 2 Journal and 3 Conf. Pub. And several ML and programming courses from Coursera. He was already aware of my scores and GPA but still asked me to apply and now this!! wasted my 65 USD. Already accepted Iowa State and research work will be much more interesting than this.

I'm guessing that you have already made other plans for your graduate studies, but I thought I would let you know that given the number of our initial offers of admission that have been accepted, we don't plan to make additional offers to students on the waitlist. As I mentioned in my email from January, we received a large number of applications, so there are many strong applicants like yourself who we were unable to admit. I wish you all the best with your graduate studies.

definitely Penn State. more comprehensive than the others. I have declined my offer from JHU. Though their program is pretty good at finance and applied micro, but after much consideration about other subfields and its location, I do not think it is good fit for me. Not sure about rice, but someone said it not a good one
