3 Professors expressed interest in my proposal. They enthusiastically asked me to apply. What is the point of speaking to potential supervisors if it has no role to play in admitting students.

Notification for check portal.

US/international history subfield. (1a/3r/0w/9p)

Focus on European History. Not surprised, but not upset as I've gotten offers from schools with much stronger programs in my specialty. Only applied because I was sent a fee waiver.

Feeling a little bit sad for being rejected after an interview. Luckily got some good offers already. Though I was expecting that a kind POI would ant least inform me of this rejection before the official notice. Well, afterwards I understand it's not their obligation to do so.

Disappointed but not surprised. Still no email after a few hours, but a rejection letter in my portal. US history, gender and sexuality subfield.

GPA is grad from Stanford. Two publications, two working papers, 3 years teaching history courses as assistant professor in home country, research fellowship for a year. LORs from top historians. Strong fit with one south asianist but not many else. que sera sera.

Masters in astrophysics from Germany. 4 yrs+ of research experience. 3 summer schools/workshops. No pubs or conference presentations. No GRE. Talked to prof before applying. Didn't receive an interview call. Generic email to check in the status. Really heartbroken as they were my dream prof.. I really envy who got in but yeah, all the best! Cherish the position forever!

Email to check portal; 2a/2r/0w/5p

Not that upset about it, they don't have a very strong Latin American History program

First-class honours at top 20 university for history, predicted distinction for my Master's at another top UK university, as well as two internships, including one at Oxford.

email to check portal just generic rejection

Thank you very much for applying to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale University. I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission. As you know, the very high number of extraordinary candidates far exceeds the number of places we have in each program, and we are not able to admit many excellent candidates. We wish you every success in all your future endeavors.

No email, just looked at portal.
