I got a lovely email from the heard of my dept. saying that though the faculty I met with unanimously recommended me to the GDR, I was not awarded a spot. I am, however, high on the waitlist. If you've gotten into Emory and don't want to go - I'd appreciate if you let them know sooner rather than later. Thanks!

This was a piece of extremely elegant and beautiful news. Undergrad in Engineering from NZ university.

Expected rejection, my exam scores were not competitive. Did not submit GRE.

Absolutely psyched!!!!

I was sent the same rejection letter that was sent to my friend a few years ago. You would think they would at least change the wording a little. I'm embarrassed for them.

Two MA degrees, early dissertation proposal, excellent LOR. Can only chalk it up to my age (40) or my lack of contact with POI. (So in love w/ the poster below LOL).

Department called me and told me I'm a fool for thinking I could ever get into their prestigious program. Audible chuckling in the background. Then they hung up. Photos of hands giving the middle finger sent via sms to my phone from the department.

Email to check website portal. The UC Berkeley campus has a strict enrollment ceiling, and we are thus very limited in the number of new students we may admit each year. The admissions committee has the difficult task of selecting students with the strongest overall records from a large pool of well-qualified applicants. Unfortunately, this may result in not being able to accept many applicants who are capable of excellent academic work.

Interview for ESOP with two professors to present my pre-proposal and discuss my previous research and BSc program. Very excited for this!!! Worked really hard on the application and wrote a perfect SOP. My LORs were good but weren't the best. 1.5 years research in Stem Cells and 6 months in Personalized Medicine. No publication. Studied at the top university in the country but not very well recognized internationally.
