Are decisions for AI/ML out? When is the visit day?

TTPB UCSD admits are real chill out. Mine came in at 12:18 am PST.

Undergrad from IIT. Interned last summer there as a SURF. After a previous post on acceptance, spoke to my intern prof from caltech's cs dept. was told decisions have been made. GPA: 9.3/10. 2 papers unde review at A* conferences when I applied. was told fit could be reason, but it was always a long shot. hope i get in somewhere else.

Answering to the question below: CMU Human Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) released all their PhD results last week.

TTPB: someone mentioned a month ago in CV. Not sure about NLP.

Any other CMS admits? :(

Don't lose hope! There are plenty of good schools out there and there is so much noise in the interview process. Good luck to everyone in this process! (also not getting into a phD program could be a blessing in disguise. There are so many good, and probably better, opportunities for CS new grads)

To the poster below, again thanks! I am from an IIT too. At this point, this is a confirmed reject. Let me just hope for the other universities. Caltech is a fantastic place though :). Congrats again!

I can't say this for certain, but I'm pretty sure I met someone who flew in from IIT, so at least some are funded. I don't know the full picture though :( sorry about the initials the department is small haha

To the poster below, thanks for taking out your time and sharing the information. I am an international undergraduate student, who SURFed at Caltech last summer. I got a very strong letter from the Prof, but the Prof is not my PoI for grad school. I did not hear back from Caltech and was worried. I had 2 papers (both empirical) in review at top conferences and a national conference presentation. I am assuming, at this point, I am most likely rejected, which is expected when they take around 30 students from a 1200 student pool. But I would be surprised if they funded international students to Caltech for an interview though, given the tedious process and cost.

GRE Quant: 167, No CS major, Had to do a coding interview - one basic list-related question, one CS concept (leetcode easy level) question

TTPB: Congrats! Do you mind sharing the initials of your POI? It would really help because I was at the on-site interview for CMS (AI/ML) as well... :)

If it helps, all CMS/CS/CDS/one more admits were interviewed at Caltech a week and a half ago, and as far as I know Caltech interviews all admits :( . I got a direct email from the PoI, but I'm pretty sure Caltech admits by department. I'm an undergrad from a top 20 US school, a range of theoretical to empirical papers at top conferences.

To the poster below, firstly congrats! Do you mind sharing your PoI and did you get an e-mail officially or from the PoI? Also, are you an international undergrad or local student and it would be great if you can share your profile (UG Univ and where you published the papers)! Again, fantastic achievement!
