Magazine concentration. Canadian student, at the University of Toronto. I've got pretty good grades and that sort of thing. One reference from a professor of a media course who's also a columnist for the Globe and Mail, a major Canadian paper. I'm the Comment Editor for our student paper, I've freelanced for the Toronto Star (another major Canadian paper), and I'm a regular writer for torontoist.com, which is a major Toronto blog. Congratulations to everyone!

I just got accepted to the New Media concentration at Columbia. But I've also had a bit of a coming of age and probably won't do a journalism degree. So a new spot should open up for some of the waitlisted applicants soon.

Accepted as a part time student starting in May '08. This site has been great for tracking Columbia Journalism rejections and wait lists (went out yesterday) and admissions (all out today by em.) I was breathing a sigh of relief yesterday that I didn't get an em, and esctatic today! Good luck and congratulations to all who get em's of acceptance today!

I have to decide now between Columbia, Northwestern, and Berkeley. No idea what to do.

i seriously did not think i was getting in. now i have to decide between this and medill. what to dooo.

Email said they could let me know as late as the first day of classes, as early as May 20. I'm going to consider this the end of the road.

very sad... but oh well! I guess I'm going to NYU now. Good luck and all the best to everyone else!

Just was sent an email and was rejected. The email was pretty short and to the point. The admissions office claimed that the process was "very competitive" this year and that they had very few slots. Well, I am a graphic designer, so this was not something that was going to make or break me. Good luck to everybody who gets in!

:(

they only accepted about 25 out of more than 250 applicants for the magazine writing concentration. about 10% admissions rate overall for the other concentrations as well.

I spoke to someone in Columbia Journalism admissions on Friday - they were all in meetings finalizing who's in and who's not, so hopefully we'll heard from them by Tuesday. They say that they'll be using e-mail to make unofficial notifications this year, so that should speeds things up a bit.

There has been no notice from Columbia University yet regarding the Journalism Masters. The notices are not supposed to be officially due before April 1. From what I have been told, Columbia University can sometimes run behind deadline. One can only hope they are as forgiving with deadlines during class!

So far it's between NYU and Northwestern. Still waiting on Columbia - anyone who's heard from them, how did you get the news?

Didn't get into Columbia, but I'm excited about NYU's program. Here we go!
