Hadn't heard anything for 8 weeks after my interview so I followed up. They emailed me back today saying that I am on the waitlist. No official change in the portal.

Ignore the decision I just wanted to ask if anyone has heard anything even if it is a rejection? I saw that one person was accepted earlier this week but has not responded to the comments yet!

First notification was in the portal with a two sentence rejection notice. Several days later I received an email with a more detailed explanation: "The Graduate Admissions Committee in the Department of English at the University of Florida has completed its review of applications and, unfortunately, has not selected you for admission. This is no reflection on your academic excellence. We received more than 200 applications from talented and accomplished students all over the world for our graduate program, and we have admitted fewer than 10%. With so many excellent applicants to choose from, our decisions often came down to judgments about which students we can best support with our particular faculty expertise, our library resources, and the teaching and other training opportunities we can provide. Many of those who applied to our program can, we believe, actually be served better elsewhere. We hope that you get that opportunity, and we wish you luck and success in your future endeavors. One final note: because we had so many applicants, we are unable to offer each applicant a detailed response on our Admissions Committee’s decision. Thank you for considering the University of Florida and for giving us an opportunity to review your materials. We are always amazed and humbled by the astonishing work that applicants to our program intend to do in the future. This year is no exception."

I contacted the admissions office and was informed that I am currently on the wl. Since I do not have any offers at the moment and am quite anxious about the situation, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who decides not to attend could decline their offer as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Just post a random PDF in the application portal with a one-line note that they cannot offer the position without notifying via email.

Accepted!! I interviewed two years ago at this same program and got rejected. This has always been a dream of mine. Don't give up. It might take a few tries, but it WILL happen!
