I haven't seen acceptances or rejections come out? Maybe this was a portal mistake?

The previous email communication was very pleasant, and I also participated in an informal interview. The field was a good match, but I was still rejected.

Email to check portal

Email to check status, gpa is master, letter from the department, highly match. 2w/5r/9p, definitely will reject by all others, my bachelor is not in America, no one knows it, should have thought that before. I will forever leave this country and find a job back home. Thank you all.

email to check portal: "Your application and supporting documents have been carefully reviewed by the Cognitive Neuroscience department and by The Graduate School. As is often the case, the number of well-qualified applicants for admission to the Duke University Graduate School far exceeds the number of available places. Consequently, we are unable to admit all applicants judged capable of successful graduate work, and I regret that we cannot offer you admission to the Cognitive Neuroscience - Ph.D. program. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to consider your application. I wish you the very best in your future career."

Zero acceptance so far. Hang in there.

I was emailed and told to check the portal. My first rejection: also easily my worst fit (something I hadn't realized until I started to write my statements and continued anyway because sunk cost fallacy).
