got an email by the director of graduate studies first then the final confirmation.

Please reject it if you have dominant offer. This is my only chance to get in a phd. Thank you!

No Interview. Received a letter from the department head. Honestly, this one really surprised me. I had no communication from them whatsoever until now and I accidentally submitted the wrong SOP. Pleasantly surprised. (This makes it that I've officially gotten into 6/10 programs, so feeling good about that!)

On behalf of the Admissions Committee, I regret to inform you that we will not be able to offer you admission to the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Admissions Committee's task was a difficult one, especially since the size of our program does not allow us to admit all qualified candidates. We thank you for your interest and wish you every success in your academic pursuits.

Emailed department directly after seeing another person do this and got the rejection. This cycle is absolutely brutal, with how many applicants there are and how little spots are being offered due to cuts. Frankly, to get any acceptance is a win at this point. 1a/0w/6r/3p
