Our faculty has carefully reviewed your application, and I regret very much to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to graduate study in the Department of Anthropology (PhD program). Admissions decisions at the University of Chicago are made within a highly competitive context in which the number of applicants greatly exceeds the limited number of places available in our programs. Applied for pure math (topology). I had a pretty good fit with the professors imo and a published paper. First one I heard back from so try not to spiral challenge begins now

Despite best work not calling for interview is shame of elite schools!

Rejected (for sociocultural). Didn't actually receive a notification, but I checked the admissions portal, and it was already updated. I'm not super surprised since it wasn't the best fit for me. Got moved into the admissions pool for their MAPSS program. Crossing my fingers for other schools!
