TPB asking what text of waitlisted email was: The admissions committee was impressed by your credentials, but we are, unfortunately, a relatively small program and constrained by the number of first-round offers we can make. You are currently on our waitlist, and we will have to wait to see how our acceptances look by early April in order to determine whether we will be able to make additional offers. I was very surprised, I thought this was a safety. I was told by a student there that they accepted too many hep-th people previously and are not accepting any this year.
