GPA is from Master’s. Informal email from one of the faculty.

Just got the email and very excited! Seems like everyone is having a rough cycle. 1a/2r/4p

This was for the master's with thesis and I did not reach out to potential supervisors ahead of time (oopsies this is where I am doing my undergrad so I didn't feel it was necessary). I received an email from the department saying they had referred me to the graduate studies office which still has to officially admit me, but that it is typically a formality!

GPA is from my current Double MA program. Applied with the intent to pursue the Language Acquisition track. I have presented at over 10 conferences, 2 papers accepted for publication, held leadership roles, and received departmental awards. Got an email to review a "Decision Letter" in the application portal. Message: The review of your application to the graduate program below has been completed. We regret to inform you that, after careful evaluation and consideration, it is not possible to offer you admission to McGill University for the Fall / Automne 2026 term. Program: PhD in Educational Studies (Thesis) Department: Integrated Studies in Ed / Études intégrées en éducation Admission to graduate programs at McGill University is highly competitive and the number of strong applications often exceeds the number of spaces available. Accordingly, I must advise you that admission decisions are not subject to reconsideration or appeal. Please note that if you have applied to another program or programs at McGill, you will receive a separate response for each program. We regret the disappointment this will cause you and wish you much success in your future endeavours. Fingers crossed for the rest of this cycle...
