The fellow Michener rejected below in playwriting checked the portal, so I did. No notification of rejection. Portal status: DENIED.

Email notification, 10 sent acceptances (poetry and prose mix) sent and we wait until 04/15 to hear if we’re offered a spot off the waitlist, or earlier if first round folks reach out sooner. States they’re accepting 5% of this year’s app’s. Excited to have made it this far! 0a/1w/0r/2p

Rejected 4:03 pm EST by Peter Ho Davies, Charles Baxter Collegiate Professor of English Language and Literature, Director, Helen Zell Writers' Program, University of Michigan

Email to check portal, second response of the season. I feel honored. My work is very experimental and I’ve heard back from the two most experimental programs so far — it really is all about the fit of your work. I’ve been writing since I was a teen and have a foothold in the lit world. Just keep honing your voice, applying/submitting for anything that catches your eye, and writing more and more radically. 2a/0r/4p

Ignore interview. Made it to phase 2.

Asian American poet who is currently living in Asia. Have been published widely in both the US and Asia. Bummer. Oh well.

I am sad. My portfolio was highly acclaimed by real poets. I think they were too political for Vandy, though.

sad face. top choice, first rejection in my first cycle. at least it isn't hanging over me anymore. 0a/0w/1r/7p
