Email to check portal 5:22PM PST - had just checked portal an hour earlier, glad they're finally finishing their paperwork for the season so to speak. 1A/9R 2 pending (one History PhD, one Public Policy PhD). Had not cultivated POIs here, but also had not where I was accepted; The 1A so far illustrates "it's not about how good you are, it's about fit" as the assigned advisor's research aligns with my own not just in place/time/POV/lens but also intricate details of methodology and "I feel like __ and __ are connected but being able to put that on paper is at least a decade in the future."

I am focused on Latin American History
