BSc (3.97/4.00) and MSc (3.94/4.00) in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Second MSc in Computer Science and Engineering, partially completed. Strong research experiences, worked on multiple projects, a total 13 publications spanning the areas of computational design and analysis, modeling and simulation etc. I thought I had an excellent SOP and PS, along with strong letters of recommendation. This was my third time applying to MIT and I still got rejected. Depressed and frustrated to this day!

Masters with thesis, 4.0 GPA, 5 years of academic research, 1.5 years of industry experience in a NASA contract, UC Berkeley undergrad, no publications (so close to one ugh) but lots of conferences/posters/talks and competitions. Started my own robotics club in undergrad that has grown campus wide with established lab and equipment. I really thought I was a strong candidate... Maybe I was too specific with my research goals in my SOP? :(
