March 2021

Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School glad I wasn't edged out by the masses of opportunistic "bad test-takers" that applied this year without GRE scores. no funding, but that's to be expected with HKS (FYI to those waitlisted: you will not receive funding). after all, if I was that concerned with money, I would just go to WWS

Public Affairs, Princeton University (WWS) Received an unofficial acceptance email on 3/13 and an official acceptance with funding info 3/15 (full tuition + $29k/year stipend!) - a bit surprised to have gotten in because I had fewer than 2 years of post-undergrad work experience, though I had a lot of policy-related internships in undergrad. 3.99 GPA, 168/168/5.0 GRE, high proficiency in a critical language probably helped.

Public Administration International Development (MPA/ID), Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) Wow! In for mpa/id with full funding (public service). Strong essays and recs compensated for ok GPA (3.6-7) and limited math background. 5 yr work experience. Deciding b/t wws. Believe in yourself! Apply even if you don't think you have a shot.

Public Administration (mid-career), Harvard Kennedy School Amazing to receive acceptance to my dream school, but zero funding. That was disappointing, coming in with 14+ yrs experience and what I felt was a really strong application. With a WWS free-ride acceptance in hand, hard to justify enrolling at HKS with a $90k price tag.

Woodrow Wilson School (WWS), Princeton University Admitted to MPA program. Low GRE quant score (v low look at it!) I take it as a testament that adcom does takes a holistic view of your app. Don't be discouraged if you are bad at test taking/haven't refreshed on math, put your best foot forward in other parts of the app and shine through! Profile: 2.6 years full-time WE (2 at top think tank, rest at top consultancy), many internships during undergrad. Fulbright, CLS, & national fellowship recipient. Publications. Accepted at Yale ($$$), Georgetown ($$$), UCSD ($$$), & Columbia ($$). Waiting on HKS & SAIS.
