  • Is there anyone still waiting to hear back from LIU Post? I submitted my application at the end of January and called them at the beginning of April. They admitted they hadn't even looked at my application yet and "did not adhere to the April 15th deadline." I feel dumb for wasting my money on my application at this point tbh

  • To the poster below asking about being wait-listed to SHU. I'll clarify a few things, I graduated from my undergrad during the spring of 17 and applied to many different universities (however with little research and a huge time crunch), ultimately I didn't get in anywhere so I took a gap year and worked as a paraprofessional for a student who has deaf-blindness at an elementary school. I truly believe this work experience has really benefited my application and would highly recommend looking into para experience somewhere if you have not done so already. I also took this time to retake and improve my GRE scores. Fast forward to this year, this fall I first created an excel spreadsheet for all 250+ programs in the US and organized them by average accepted GPA, GRE and calculated the number of applicants with the accepted applicants to get a ballpark percentage or chances to get in to work with. (All of this information is on ASHA edfind). Finally I applied to 20+ different universities all over the country. I am from Minnesota so although I am thrilled to have been accepted into the Sacred Heart program I will be moving into a very different area of the country and I'm super excited to begin this new adventure. I would highly recommend applying to schools across the country if you have not done so this round of applications. Eventually, I was wait-listed at 13 schools, yes, you read that right, 13 schools!! I however, did not get accepted anywhere and additionally had to travel to 3 universities for on campus interviews. I can totally relate to the discouragement you are feeling since I've been there and I just want to encourage you to not give up. Sacred Heart is still the only school I have been accepted to and I am beyond thankful that all my effort has finally payed off! This year was my first time applying to the Sacred Heart program and if you were wait-listed this year, I would highly recommend applying to Sacred Heart again the following year, since they obviously liked your application enough to give you a chance. I apologize for this extremely long post, but I hope I've been helpful. I know getting into graduate school is extremely competitive and you can feel very hopeless and defeated at times. If becoming and SLP is truly what you want to do I believe that you can do it and get accepted! Thanks for reading through this long rant and reach out if you have any additional questions. Good luck with everything and I hope you are able to get in somewhere!

  • To the poster below, I was accepted to their on campus program with average GRE scores (v:148, q:147 w:4.0). I also have an aversge GPA (high major GPA though); however I believe my volunteer experience is what got me accepted. So i can't say because it's different for everyone but for me, I guess my scores didn't matter too much.
